With the likely introduction of seven new top-level domains (TLDs), such as .info and .pro, later this year, companies that already own a .com name are deciding whether they need to own the parallel name in the new TLDs. Part of the reason companies may decide to get a name in a new domain is to make sure nobody else gets it.
